Below you will find the 1st edition of Patrick S. Dinneen's Irish-English Dictionary (Foclóir Gaedhilge agus Béarla) published in 1904. The Dictionary as such is now in the public domain. The Dictionary has been corrected from both pdf and plaintext versions on www.archive.org by Alan Mac an Bhaird, Andorra, who has also converted the Cló Gaelach to Latin type, and has kindly offered it to CELT.
Alan Mac an Bhaird holds an MA degree from Oxford and a PhD degree from Trinity College, Dublin (thesis "The Grammatical Structure of Munster Irish" 1974). Over the years he has published several articles on Irish language and literature. After some years (1975–1982) as a placenames officer in the Ordnance Survey Dublin followed by three years in Hong Kong dedicated to studying Chinese language and literature, he returned to Andorra where he had already spent the period 1966–1972 as a language teacher. From 1985 until his retirement in December 2008 he acted as an official sworn translator in the Principality. He died in January 2014.
