The <span class="on" title="Firbolg">Firbolgs</span>, a rude people, held Ireland for a long period. They were subdued by the <span class="on" title="Tuatha Dé Danann">Tuatha de Danaan</span>, a refined and noble race, which in its turn yielded its supremacy to the arms of the <span class="on">Milesians</span>. The dates during these centuries are not well ascertained.</p><p>489. B.C. Dr. O Conor, the Librarian of Stowe, fixes this as the most probable date of the Milesian invasion.</p><p>489. B.C.
