On the south side of the church stands Calvary, the place in which our Lord was put on the Cross, and where the Cross was set in a white stone, but there is a little red in it where the Lord's blood dropped. And the name of this place


in Greek is Golgotha, and there, after the Flood had departed, Adam's head was found as a token that his sin should be redeemed therein. And upon the same stone Abraham made his sacrifice to the Lord. And Godfrey de Boulogne, and Baldwin, and the other kings of the Christians who took Jerusalem, are buried on the other side of the altar, that is, before the altar on its right side.
