This information about the religious and political situation in Ireland was sent to Spain by unnamed Irish churchmen. It was published in Spanish in 1611 by the Clonmel Jesuit Thomas White who was head of the Irish College in Salamanca. The purpose of the newsletter was to alert Spanish readers to the plight of their Irish co-religionists who, suffering religious persecution and land confiscation, were now facing the prospect of a gerrymandered parliament worsening their situation. This unique item survives in the Biblioteca Palafoxiana in Puebla, Mexico, whose librarians are thanked for their assistance.
