The Annals of Ulster, Connacht, Loch Cé and the Four Masters give this entry sub anno 1270. Here, on the Shannon in County Leitrim, Aedh O'Connor inflicted the most damaging of defeats upon the earl of Ulster, Walter de Burgo, who died a broken man within a year at the age of forty-four.
