Several years earlier, in 1225, he invited the Dominicans to Kilkenny where he founded the Black Abbey for the friars. The obit refers to the earl marshall and earl of Pembroke, who was the eldest son of Strongbow, William Marshall senior, marshal of England, earl of Leinster and Pembroke.
