Robin Flower, 'Manuscripts of Irish interest in the British Museum: histories and annals,' Analecta Hibernica, 2 (1931), 318. Founded in the first half of the seventh century, near Lake Constance in present–day Switzerland, the monastery was named after the Irish monk Gall. Gall was one of twelve companions who left Bangor, Co. Down, accompanying Columbanus to France and Switzerland.
