irna is a word of frequent occurrence but of uncertain connotation. In the modern language (S.G. and I.G.) a word iorna, iarna is in common use, meaning a ‘skein’ or ‘hank’ of yarn. It is evidently a different word from this, being the English word yarn borrowed.
