After a few days stay at Waterford at the house of my friend Richard Jacob's205 during which time I was almost entirely confined by a bad cold, I reembarked in the packet and landed at Milford — pleased indeed with the thought of returning home but with no small mixture of regret at leaving a country in many parts so interesting and a people whom with all their faults it is impossible to know and not to love.
