<l>Man that art going to the plain of Maeve,</l>
<l>let thy tale be mindful of the story!</l>
<l>I spread over every pleasant tribal land</l>
<l>the names of the kings of fair Cruachan.</l>
</lg>
<lg n="2" type="quatrain">
<l>Fifty-eight kings &mdash; far it has been heard &mdash;</l>
<l>were in high-kingship since the Faith:</l>
<l>from Amalgaid whose fame poets spread</l>
<l>down to Domnall son of Tigernan.</l>
</lg>
<lg n="3" type="quatrain">
<l>Amalgaid son of Fiachra the Fair,</l>
<l>after him Ailill ruled;</l>
<l>after Ailill Molt without gentleness</l>
<l>Dui Galach was in the high-kingship.</l>

<l>Eogan Bel ruled for a time after his father,</l>
<l>before Ailill;</l>
<l>Ailill the Womanly was king</l>
<l>after the death of Eogan of great honour.</l>

<l>Dui Tenga seized the kingship;</l>
<l>after Dui &mdash; famous he was, and warlike &mdash;</l>

<l>Feradach the fair ruled, a true judge;</l>

<l>Cellach the brilliant son of Rogallach,</l>

<l>Muredach son of Murgius;</l>
<l>then &mdash; noble he was and father of many children &mdash;</l>

<l>After the son of flaming-red D&umacr;nchad, Cathal &mdash; he was a leader of great hosts &mdash;</l>

<l>Domnall, great Cathal's son,</l>
<l>ruled after his father;</l>
<l>after the death of Domnall without discord</l>
<l>Indrechtach the son of Muredach.</l>

<l>ruled immediately after that,</l>
<l>king of Irros Domnann, the flame,</l>

<l>Fergus son of Cellach ruled;</l>

<l>ruled for a while after Ailill,</l>

<l>after Artgal of the rough blade,</l>
<l>thereafter the flame found hardship,</l>
