These are the signs of the combination of hectic fever with putrid fever: the urine and the faeces are fatty, and paroxysms139 come, accompanied by shrivelling of the skin, which remains hot and dry after the decrease of the fever and the paroxysms. Understand there is only one paroxysm140 in true hectic fever, in which are the four stages of disease. If true hectic fever come from an inflammatory imposthume141 the pulse will be very rapid.
