Of the Temple of our Lord

And this is the church of the Sepulchre. Eightscore paces east (of it) stands a church as round, beautiful, high, covered with lead (and) belonging to the Lord, and its floor


paved with white marble. And neither Jews nor Christians dare to enter it, for the Saracens say that it is not right that men such as they should come into so holy a place. But I came into it, because I had the seal of the Soldan; and when the Saracens saw the seal, they fell on their knees before it just as we would fall in the presence of the Holy Body.
